I've seen many videos from this site. I had heard that there were interesting classical music videos which I searched through (and watched a few).

I heard about Hulu from an NPR program, but hadn't yet spent the time to search through it. I am more interested in seeing older shows and did find that they have programs like "Lost in Space" which I remember as being much more well acted. I'm going to watch some movies from home...

I didn't spend as much time on Fancast, but I did look around the site. I usually need quiet when I am working. Even as a teen I found listening to music while I worked a distraction.

I think that for someone who loves to listen to music, a tool like streaming music would be essential.

I tried out Pandora and found it easy to use. I like the idea of their database providing music similar to what you like to hear. This would be a lot cheaper than buying CDs and finding that you only like one song (which is how my husband explores new music -- we have and ENORMOUS CD collection). In my iGoogle account I keep track of our Sno-Isle Collection Development blog (find out what is new and exciting in our collection!) and Smart Bitches Who Love Trashy Novels (find out what's new and exciting in the romance genre -- OK, OK, what's exciting in romance novels is almost always more exciting than collection development). I really like that I don't have to type in a bunch of addresses and search through a bunch of screens to see what is new.

I finally learned what RSS stood for while reading this 2.0 assignment (Real Simple Syndication). I find it easier to remember acronyms when I understand what the heck the stand for.

I think that this technology is a boon for anyone who spends time on the internet. Working on the web can be such a time suck and it is always helpful to have things right at your fingertips instead of many keystrokes away.

IM - the wave of the future?

OK, according to the 2.0 message, IMing has been around for about 10 years. I know that this is how a lot of people contact each other. I'm afraid that I see it as another way that people stay attached to their equipment requiring immediate attention. I don't leave my cell phone on because I believe that my time is my own and shouldn't be at the beck and call of whoever wants my attention. I was at a dinner party a couple of years ago with a bunch of university students and right in the middle of dinner one of the women got a phone call which she answered and proceeded to converse with the person right at the dinner table! This seemed the outside of enough for me in rudeness, but none of the other diners even batted an eye. I don't know, I think that a person should be able to limit when they are available.

I can appreciate that this would be a useful tool for some, but I believe that I'll stick with email which can be answered at my convenience and not something that I have to keep an eye out for all of the time.

Wow, should I be saying "Bah Humbug" or something.....

New Stuff

Whew!
