IM - the wave of the future?

OK, according to the 2.0 message, IMing has been around for about 10 years. I know that this is how a lot of people contact each other. I'm afraid that I see it as another way that people stay attached to their equipment requiring immediate attention. I don't leave my cell phone on because I believe that my time is my own and shouldn't be at the beck and call of whoever wants my attention. I was at a dinner party a couple of years ago with a bunch of university students and right in the middle of dinner one of the women got a phone call which she answered and proceeded to converse with the person right at the dinner table! This seemed the outside of enough for me in rudeness, but none of the other diners even batted an eye. I don't know, I think that a person should be able to limit when they are available.

I can appreciate that this would be a useful tool for some, but I believe that I'll stick with email which can be answered at my convenience and not something that I have to keep an eye out for all of the time.

Wow, should I be saying "Bah Humbug" or something.....

New Stuff

Whew! It took me forever to find the progress log (I was trying to locate in on the Intranet - not seeing that there was a link lower on the 2.0 page). I tried searching for "Progress Log", "Web 2.o", "Sno-Isle Libraries 2.0", "20 for 2.0" with no luck. Is the only way to access this through the link in the directions?? I have it now, but how can I locate it if I lose this specific link?????

I know that I am pretty literal on occasion but it was really frustrating since there was no link immediately in the directions.

OK, OK, it was Internet Explorer

I switched over from Internet Explorer to Firefox and all of the screen problems disappeared. Hmmmm. This means that I might switch my allegiance. I'll give it some time.

This gol-dang thing isn't working right!!!!

My dashboard doesn't look right, all of my choices are sitting on top of each other. I've tried signing out, logging out, restarting and rebooting. My colleague's screens look and work fine -- what is up??

I'll try again tomorrow......

Welcome to my blog!

This is a new day for this librarian - I've started my own blog. The world of library book selection for kids and teens starts here....
